The Vice Chancellor of Central University, Professor Kwesi Yankah has been awarded the Laureate for Education in Ghana.
Professor Yankah who was presented with the award by Mr. Gerhard Brugger, the Swiss Ambassador to Ghana was recognized for his exceptional and continuous administration and academic contribution to education in Ghana, the award citation read.
The Impact Africa Summit whose agenda is focused on the Sustainable Development Goals also recognized and awarded five other distinguished personalities for their contribution to Africa’s development.
They were former President John Agyekum Kufour, Mr. Ken Ashigbey, Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume of the Family Health Medical School in Ghana, Farida Bedwei for Information Technology and Togbe Afede XIV, Chairman of the World Trade Centre.
The laureate award recipients were described by Mr. Francois Pujolas, the French Ambassador to Ghana and the guest of honour for the occasion, as the New African Personality who have demonstrated a commitment to Africa’s sustainable development in three areas: economic growth, environmental protection and socio-economic equality.
The event attracted members of the diplomatic corps, government representatives, people from academia, politics and industry from Africa and Abroad.
