5 Ideas for men this season

5 Ideas for men this season

It’s that time of the year again. The year 2016 has zoomed past pretty fast and judging by the Christmas trees at almost every spot and departmental stores all around most parts of the world, we know it’s arguably the most exciting time of the year.

While kids are getting all gooey about Santa Claus and gifts and ladies are attending more weddings than they have in the past couple of months, here are a few pointers as to what every gentleman should sustain through the festivities:

1. Stay well-groomed: This involves working out to stay fit and shaving any excess beard as you don’t want to look like a scary bounty hunter when guests come visiting

2. Stock in the casuals: The end of the year is usually that time of the year set aside for parties. Whether it’s an office end of the year party or a beach party with friends, it undoubtedly calls for ditching those corporate wears for some casual hip outfits. Pay attention to the loafers, chinos pants and maybe the cool bowler hats

3. Treat out your loved ones:
This might be your girlfriend, wife, kids, nieces or nephews, you just have to make them feel lucky to have you and always look forward to spending the festive season with you

4. Get yourself a gift:
Depends on your budget, rounding off the year with a souvenir for yourself doesn’t sound like a bad idea

5. Recharge your batteries:
Getting as much rest as possible this season is more than ideal.

Top 10 African Countries with the Most Beautiful Women

Top 10 African Countries with the Most Beautiful Women

I must say that African in general is undoubtedly the continent with the most beautiful women in spite of all the challenges it is currently facing. So do have a view below to see the most recent list of 10 African country with most beautiful and stunning women.

10. KENYA

Surprisingly Kenya emerges. It might come as a shock to many, but make out time and explore the city of Nairobi., then and only then you will have a change of mind. Well, the ever-glowing Habida is the face of Kenya on the list. You could notice her enchantress’ eye-popping photo depicting the stunning women of Kenya.

09. RWANDA

Rwanda boasts an incredibly low cost of living plus a plethora of beautiful women to choose from.

08. GHANA

Ghana is considered “Africa for Beginners” for many reasons. Ghanians are extremely friendly to tourists/expats and English is widely spoken. If you visit to Accra and meet a Ghanian lady, you may never go home again! Anyway Ghana is another African country that is so blessed with pretty women. If you check the Ghanaian film industry, you will know that the 5th spot is well deserved.

07. IVORY COAST

Ivorian women are verified beauties no doubt. YES! They cool, stunning and breath-taking women and amazing. In fact it a place to explore as a single guy *winks*

06. SOUTH AFRICA

I’m quite surprised that South Africa was defeated by many other African countries topping our list as she is ranked the eight African countries with the most stunning women….and in case you pull a doubt, please explore South Africa and find out why they became eighth. Even though, South Africa, like many faces gracing various runways, TVs and magazines are from South Africa, many from Johannesburg, but if you have ever been to the great country, being in 8th won’t be a shock to you.

05. EGYPT

Well, Egypt has lots of beautiful women even though some of them are hidden behind shrouds because of religion. The ancient country of Egypt houses many of the most beautiful women in the world.

But, what happened to Rwanda, and why is it obviously not in the list? Does this tell us that Mugabe nation (Zimbabwean) even has more pretty women than Rwanda? Just wondering anyway!

04. NIGERIA

Miss Nigeria Sylvia Emechete shares stunning new pictures
Former Miss Nigeria Sylvia Emechete
Nigeria is the most populous black country that has once produced “a miss world” in the past came seventh position. Nigeria has so many cute ladies with enormous sense of fashion. In fact, some of the beautiful women in Nigeria are the most beautiful on the continent. Yes! “hot” is not enough to describe their ladies to say the least.

03. SOMALIA

Somali girls live on the “Horn of Africa” and are definitely worth the trip. Take in the beautiful Indian Ocean while sharing a cozy spot with your Somalian beauty. Pick up the local Somali language and you’re golden.

02. ERITREA

Eritrea, located right next to Ethiopia, is a small but vibrant country full of beautiful ladies. The local langage is Tigrinya.

01. ETHIOPIA

The number one country on our list is Ethiopia…..surprised? Ethiopian girls are known for their wide eyes and beautiful grace. Undeniably, Ethiopia has the most stunning and most beautiful women in Africa.

Ethiopia with ease made the top on our respected and desired list. Just dare think beauty and I bet Ethiopia will pop up in your head. But if you are still doubting, take a tour of inspection and see for yourself how convinced you will be. Even in 2014, their women comfortably sat on the same position. Phew! Ethiopia women I can’t help but doff my cap to you.

Nigerian first class graduate, Nancy Ogbonna dumps degree to rule Ghanaian make-up world

Ghana celebrity make-up artist Nancy Chinalurum Ogbonna
Ghana celebrity make-up artist Nancy Chinalurum Ogbonna
Her world booms as the patronage sprawls. It is not about who she is but about what she does. Her artistry and finishings are a brand which is winning many hearts. From Aba to Lagos in Nigeria down to Accra, Kumasi and indeed, most major cities in Ghana, Nancy Blaq, a brand in make-up world resonates. For this reason, Star Tracker located the Nigerian-born, IT first class graduate, awarding-winning Ghana make-up artist for an interview during a recent trip to Accra. Here is the package.

Who’s Nancy?

I am Nancy Chinalurum Ogbonna. The owner of Nancy Blaq. I am the first of 6 children of my parents. I am a Nigerian, born and bred in Aba, Abia State. Here in Ghana, I am a celebrity make-up artist. I practice in Accra and across Ghana.

Tell me more about Nancy Blaq as a brand?

Nancy Blaq as a brand has been on for 2 years now. I started in April, 2014 as a brand. But as a talent, I have had it from Nigeria, right from when I was 13 or 14 years old. My aunt, Kelechi, a fashion designer used to take me along when going to dress her brides and then I would do their make-up. And later she would give me something small which was actually a big deal for me back then. That’s how it all began.

So, how did you come to Ghana?

I came to school in Ghana. I used to be a medical student in Nigeria. And then after 4 years, we had a little issue with our accreditation and I had to drop. When I came to Ghana, I started afresh on an IT course, that’s Business and Information Technology. I schooled here. So, basically, this is my hood and when I started make-up as a profession, I decided to stay back. I have been here up to 5 years now.

You said you were a medical student in Nigeria and later switched over to IT, tell me about your academic background?

I graduated from the University of Greenwich, UK. They have a campus here in Ghana. I studied Business and Information Technology here in Ghana but it’s a UK university. But before then, I had gone to some other schools. My education started in Nigeria. First of all, Living Word Academy for my Nursery and Primary in Aba, Abia State. From there, I went to Adventist Technical Secondary, Owerrinta, Abia State as well. Then Carol-P Schools, still in Abia State for my JSS to SS 1. Then I left for D-Nals, that is Danchima Nigerian American Laboratory Schools, Aba.

That’s where I concluded my secondary. Then for the University, I first went to Madonna University for three and half years. That’s where I did Medicine and Surgery which I never completed. And later, I moved to Ghana. I tried continuing with a medical course but I didn’t get it due to some challenges with WAEC subjects. There are courses they expect you to have which we don’t have in the Nigerian system. We rather do such courses in our Junior Secondary. For instance, Integrated Science. So, I had to change to Information Technology at a time in Valley View University, VVU, Accra.

You know, changing from Medicine to IT wouldn’t be easy and it wasn’t easy for me. And I decided to drop out of Valley View. That was how I got to know about University of Greenwich and later got admission there. And because I had acquired a little knowledge at Valley View, it was a bit easier for me to adapt this time and I decided to stick to it because after attending 3 Universities, I just had to finish in one. By God’s Grace, I finished with a First Class from the University of Greenwich.

A first class graduate of IT should be a toast of the world’s IT companies especially at this time and age. So, why did you take to make-up?

Yea. You can never tell what the future holds hence my degree. But at the moment, I like what I am doing. Like I said, I started make-up from a very tender age. I love make-up. I am very passionate about it. It was quite easy for me to delve into make-up because it is in me. It’s a talent. And I do not think going to school was bad because you need education in whatever you are doing to actually thrive. A university degree, no doubt, is good. But I like what I am currently doing and I intend to take it further. With a First Class Degree in IT added to make-up biz, I don’t think it’s a bad idea. But basically, our future is determined by God.

How about your parents reaction to this?

When I started here professionally 2 years ago, I actually decided to hide it from my parents. I hid it from them for a long time because I didn’t know how they were going to accept it, especially coming from my type of family where much is expected of me as the first child. But finally, when I saw that it was picking up, I had to open up to my father and I was so surprised the way he understood the whole thing and accepted me. My siblings, my grand ma, everyone has been supportive.

As a celebrity make-up artist, what is your experience with entertainment people?

As an award-winning celebrity make-up artist, the requirement includes working with most celebrities. So, if my clients are about 100, I have worked more with a lot of celebrities than the regular brides, wedding guests and all of that. The celebrities I have worked with are quite a handful both in Ghana and Nigeria. They include Jackie Appiah (actress), Becca (musician), Nana konadu Agyeman (ex Ghana First Lady) Efya (singer) Yvonne Okoro (actress) Sika Osei (TV presenter/actress) Afia Schwarzenegger (Queen of comedy in Ghana), Lydia Forson (actress), Sakordie (rapper), Irene Logan (musician), Stacy Amoateng (TV host RWS), Victoria Michaels (Intl model). Then in Nigeria, I have worked with Dakore Egbuson (actress), Ebube Nwagbo (actress), Emen Isong (Nollywood producer), Korede Bello(musician), Ice Prince Zamani (musician) and many others.

Let’s know some of the awards you have won so far?

I won the Best celebrity makeup artist 2016 Ghana Makeup Awards and Fashion Makeup Artist of the Year, 2016 (Afroma Awards) in September, 2016. I have also been nominated for the African Top Ten Awards

Do you have the intention of bringing your brand to Nigeria?

Of course, that’s where I started my make-up artistry. I am sure I used to watch a lot of top notch make-up artists back then in Nigeria. That’s where I got my inspiration from. Yes, I would love to come back home, to do something for my homeland. I mean Nancy Blaq coming to Nigeria would be a great deal for me because that’s where it all started.

Are you having any challenges here as a foreigner?

From what I know, I am well accepted here. Ghanians love me for who I am and they love what I do. My acceptance here is quite heart-warming because that’s why Ghana would pick me up out of the lot for different awards. Just like Nigeria, Ghana is also good in welcoming strangers. They are known for that and they have accepted me for who I am.

One notices that outside your facial paintings, you don’t wear jewelry. What informed that?

Yes, I was born without a piercing and growing up, I stuck to that. I didn’t have my parents, aunts, wearing jewelry. Thanks be to God. And I saw that my aunts still looked pretty, classy and not out of date without wearing jewelry. But I tell you something, my religious denomination inculcated that into us. I am a Seventh-Day Adventist, SDA and we don’t wear jewelry in our church. I am not in any way castigating anyone who wears jewelry but I just feel that it doesn’t change who you are.

I am a very humble person – Linda Ikeji

Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji
Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji
Nigerian blogger and entrepreneur, Linda Ikeji recently launched her new social media, Linda Ikeji Social (LIS) a social media platform which innovatively fuses news reporting, social interaction and online shopping all in one place.

In this interview, Linda Ikeji discusses the secrets behind her career, how she has been able to wade through stormy waters, the new social media platform (Linda Ikeji Social), and her opinion on business partnership with the government.

Read the interview below:
You are known as the queen of blogging. How did it all start?
It all started in 2006 after a friend told me she read a story about me on the internet, and out of curiosity I logged on to the site to read the story. After reading, I loved it and subsequently in November 2006 I decided that I wanted to start my own blog because journalism had always been something i loved to do, it’s something I wanted to do while growing up; so I thought I should live the dream. So I started my own blog in November 2006 and here we are 10-years after.

What has been your drive?
Passion is what has driven me all through to this point, because, like I said earlier, it’s not just about me living my dream, I wanted to be a journalist, a broadcast journalist. A lot of people I admired in those days were broadcasters or TV presenters, like Frank Olize; I admired reporting, so what kept me going on the blog has been passion because I’m living my dream doing it.

Don’t you think you are deviating from the norm considering the fact that Linda Ikeji Blog has been very successful?
Linda Ikeji Social (LIS) and Linda Ikeji Blog (LIB) are very similar; it’s the same online business. LIS is an extension of LIB basically because most of the stuff you find on LIB you find on LIS. We are not deviating, they are very similar businesses, online technology, news reporting, they are very similar, they work hand in hand.

What is Linda Ikeji Social all about compared to Linda Ikeji Blog?
LIS is a combination of social networking, news reporting, buying and selling. How I came about it was this, I thought about the traffic that occurs when people go on the internet and the first one is how people keep up, that’s why Facebook has the most users in the world. It helps you connect to other people in real time, read what people are saying, chat with others. I think that’s the number one reason people go online.

The second reason people go online is for them to read the news, to know what goes in the world around them. The third reason people go online is to buy and sell, to shop. So I thought why can’t I have a site that has a combination of these three so that eventually people don’t have to go to multiple sites to get all these three, they can just come on LIS and get them all.

How do you raise funds for customer rewards in such a time of economic recession?
Of course the #1,000,000 we gave out was from our pocket, it was our own way of welcoming users and subscribers to our new platform. Next week we’re going to give out another sum, and of course it won’t be the same amount, probably half of it. And we’re going to give out recharge cards and so many other products because other brands are going to get involved.

We’re just a week old; so, for now, we have to fund all this with our own money before other brands become part of it. Right now, we’re funding everything by ourselves; there is no private investor anywhere. In fact, I got a call from a friend in South Africa who wanted to find out if I would allow for private investors, that somebody wanted to drop some amount of money to become a co-owner of Linda Ikeji Social (LIS), but I told him no.

The reason I said no is because, for now, I don’t know the value of what I’m doing right now or what it would be. I can’t put a price to it that I would say ‘okay, come and pay this amount and take a particular percentage’. So, right now, I’m funding everything 100 percent and I don’t know if I would allow for private investors. I’m just taking it a step at a time for now.

It depends on how big it gets. If it gets bigger than me, then I would give room for private investors, but if it doesn’t, I’ll handle it all by myself.

Don’t you think you might be perceived to be proud by saying you don’t need private investors to invest in LIS now?
I’m not the proud type, in fact, I’m very humble. People don’t know that, to a very large extent, I’m a very humble person because I know where I’m coming from. People usually have their own views about other people, but those who know me know that I’m very humble.

Why I don’t want investors now is because I don’t know how to value what I’m doing yet. If someone comes to me now and says ‘I want to give you one million dollars to have a share in LIS’, I don’t know how to value what the person would get for that amount of money he or she wants to invest in my business. So it’s not about pride. I just want to take it one step at a time, do it on my own; then if it gets bigger than me, investors can come on board. It’s not pride; it’s just me as a business woman taking it one step at a time. For now, I’m financially capable enough to run it, so I don’t need investors yet.

Would you partner with the government if it signifies interest in your business?
Government does not partner with anybody on such things now, do they? I would rather partner with private investors than government. On a second thought, I can partner with government, but not that they would own it, they would just be a partner.

What do you give in return to companies who partner with you?
Publicity, free advert and publicity.

Don’t you think you’re taking on too much running LIB and LIS all by yourself?

No, for Linda Ikeji Blog, I’ve staff working with me though I’m still on top of it. For Linda Ikeji Social, I also have staff working for me and I’m also on top of it. LIS and LIB are the same online business; one actually feeds from the other. I don’t feel it’s too much, it depends on what you feel your capabilities are; besides, I feel like I’m able because I’ve been blogging for 10-years now, so, blogging is easier for me now. Whenever you see me on my laptop, you’ll see LIB on one side and then you’ll see LIS on the other, just for me to monitor everything that’s going on; so it’s absolutely not bigger than something I can handle.

If you have to liquidate either of LIS or LIB due to challenges beyond you, which would it be?
That’s a very tough question; nobody prays for such, but if that happens, oh my God! To be honest, sitting down here right now, I would shut down Linda Ikeji Social because I don’t know what the future of LIS would be whereas Linda Ikeji Blog is already very successful. But if I look five-years down the line, that’s a bigger brand, more people can do a lot more on LIS such as traffic report and many other things, it’s all encompassing. But two-three years from now, I really hope LIS becomes a bigger brand than LIB.

What have you put in place to prevent internet fraudsters from hacking into the site or swindling your subscribers?
My people are working tirelessly to prevent any form of attack. There are so many technical terms that I can’t really talk about but they are sure on top of it. Someone actually tried to hack into the site three-days after we launched it. My tech team called me and gave me the guy’s details, but like I said earlier, they are working tirelessly round the clock to make sure that doesn’t happen. They are putting up security systems for the site and for the users so that no one would have any form of complain.

Government doesn’t respect entertainers – Yvonne Nelson

Yvonne Nelson

Yvonne Nelson agrees with her colleague actress Bibi Bright that the movie industry is gradually dying.

The actress cum movie producer in a chat with MzGee on Hitz FM gave many factors she thinks are killing the Ghanaian movie industry. Naming the causes, she mentioned piracy as a major factor contributing to the slow growing of the movie industry.

To her, moviemakers obtained money in return for labour from CD sales years back but the continues illegal production of movies in recent times make producers run at loss.

She pleaded with government to construct theaters in each region to help moviemakers showcase their works.

Miss Nelson after making the plea quickly added that she believes government does not respect entertainers in the country so her request will not be taken serious.

The “If Tomorrow Never Comes” actress opined that government would listen to the needs of footballers and give deaf ears to that of entertainers in the country but both are equally working hard to project the image of Ghana.

“The whole industry is slow. The problem now is piracy because the DVD market is gone. Producers used to get their returns from CDs and DVDs but that is no more so you can imagine the pain.

If government can build cinemas in all regions for us it will really help. If that is done you can release a movie today and somebody in Tamale can also watch it same time with someone in Accra.

Yvonne Nelson

There are so many things they can do for us but I believe we don’t have that respect or they don’t respect us as much.

They would rather pay attention to footballers than we actors and musicians but we sell Ghana. A lot of people know Ghana through the music and movies we produce from here.

People did not know Ghana but because of our music and movies, Caribbeans know of us. How can they focus on football and forget us? Are we just thinking it’s all about football? It is very wrong” Yvonne Nelson told MzGee.

Actress calls out NDC celebs, says they are stomach politicians

Ghanaian actress Jessica Williams
Jessica Williams
Ghanaian actress Jessica Williams has lashed out at Ghanaian celebrities that have publicly endorsed President John Dramani Mahama and are taking an active part in the electioneering campaign by National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of engaging in stomach politics.

To Jessica, artistes such as John Dumelo, Mr. Beautiful, Mzbel, Abeiku Santana, Kalsoume Sinare, Amandzeba, Bulldog,Tracey Boakye, among others, are rallying behind NDC mainly for their personal gains and not necessarily because they believe in the party’s ideologies or have the welfare of the state at heart. She claimed these artistes had been baited with money among others for their endorsement of the ruling party and added she had evidence to support her charge, having allegedly been approached to join the campaign trail in return for a juicy offer.

“Frankly, all these people know that the country is not moving forward but have decided to endorse the NDC and President Mahama because of their stomachs,” she told Showbiz in an interview.

Famous for roles in TV series such as Living With Trisha, Charade, Table of Men, and The Storm, Jessica said she did not belong to any political party but was of the conviction the NDC had failed Ghana and Ghanaians. According to her, such “stomach politics” by celebrities was nothing short of a betrayal of their followers’ trust.

“What are you telling your followers who have been loyal to you and trust whatever you say or put out. I believe the right thing should be done and these celebrities are not doing the right thing?” she added. Jessica confessed to Showbiz that she had previously been approached by an NDC bigwig for her endorsement of the party and the promised benefits that came with the request were awesome.

“I had to turn down the offer because I would have been doing the wrong thing if I had accepted it, knowing very well everything is wrong with the Mahama led NDC administration,” revealed the actress who has also starred in movies such as Mysterious Girls, Prison or Marriage, Prince Sam, The Bond and Mabre Agu.

Ironically, despite her strong criticism of the NDC and its celebrity endorsements, the actress stated unequivocally that she was neither a supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) nor had any difficulties with celebrities such as Agya Koo, Kwabena

Kwabena, Praye, Lucky Mensah and Kwaku Manu throwing their weight behind other political parties out of conviction that Ghana needed a change.

“Despite not being affiliated to any political party, I support change and I side with any celebrity who joins the other political parties and not NDC who have nothing new to offer.

What does Mariah Carey think of Nick Cannon expecting a baby with ex?

Miariah Carey's ex-hubby Nick Cannon's ex-girlfriend Brittany Bell is six months pregnant
Miariah Carey's ex-hubby Nick Cannon's ex-girlfriend Brittany Bell is six months pregnant
We told you last week Nick Cannon confirmed that he is indeed expecting a child with his ex-girlfriend, Brittany Bell, who is about six months pregnant. This will be Cannon’s third child, as he already has twins Moroccan and Monroe (known as Roc and Roe) from his relationship with ex-wife, Mariah Carey. We know that Cannon is happy.

He jokingly claimed that he’s “doing the Lord’s work” by being fruitful and multiplying, but what does Carey think about the news? As it turns out, she couldn’t get a straight answer from him about whether or not the rumors were true, but now that she knows they are, she’s happy for him.

“I’ll always be supportive of him… and this is all news to me, ’cause I didn’t know about this till maybe last week,” Carey told Mario Lopez of Extra. “I asked him a question and then he kinda said yes, but didn’t, and I’m like, it’s kinda confirmed… If he’s happy that’s great.”

There were rumors that the news of Cannon’s child was a “sensitive topic” for Carey, and when initially asked about it by paparazzi (in an aggressive way, of course), she only responded with “Is he talking to me?” However, she seems okay with the baby news rather than bothered by it. That’s likely because the singer has her own personal life to focus on, which includes moving forward after the end of her engagement to billionaire James Packer. When asked how she’s handling things, since she hasn’t publicly appeared sad about the split, Carey told Extra “I’m definitely not distraught.” But Carey did admit to Ellen DeGeneres during a visit to her show this week that while she’s doing well and “Everything happens for a reason,” she doesn’t like to talk about it much.

“It’s kind of difficult to talk about it at the moment,” she said. “So, I’m just going to compliment you on these decorations once again because they are fabulous, and I am here, among them.”

She’s already said to have moved on to her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka. Plus, Carey has her E! reality show on the way, and as she told Extra, just like you, she’s not sure what to expect.

“I don’t know if I learn something about myself, but I’ll definitely sit there and critique,” she said. “I’ll just look at myself and go, ‘Oh why did I do that? Oh, what is this?'”

The show makes its debut on December 4.

I’m coming back to Ghana to revive highlife and hiplife music – Slim Buster

Ebenezer Asare known in showbiz as Slim Buster
Ebenezer Asare known in showbiz as Slim Buster
Virtuoso singer and dancer, Ebenezer Asare known in showbiz as Slim Buster says his return to Ghana is mainly to revitalize the ‘dead’ highlife and hiplife music.

Buster disclosed that dancehall and azonto songs have taken over the indigenous music.

“I’m coming back to see if we can really progress with highlife and hiplife. Now look at hiplife, it’s really struggling…. Dancehal and Azonta have taken over.”

Speaking with Sammy Flex in London, the ‘Masanaba’ hit singer opined that his reason for leaving Ghana to the UK was because of the power crisis (dumsor) and has promised to return in February 2017.

“I left Ghana because of the power crisis. I started having problems with lights, I was spending so much money on fuel because some of us can’t sleep without lights. I was filling my huge plant in addition to my two cars so it was a bit too much for me. I decided to relocate from Ghana and concentrate on my family here in UK.”

He commended Dancehall greats Shatta, Samini and Stonebwoy for their contributions in making Ghanaian music a force to reckon with.

Slim Buster added that though most of these Ghanaian artistes are at their peak, there is something missing which he expects the celebrated musicians to do but nobody has been able to do.

He continued that “I’ve to go back and fill that gap and speed them up. When I speed them up they will noticed that yes the old man is back, let’s follow him.”

Slim released his maiden album, but discovered later, that it did not conform to what pertained in the country at the time. He realised that in order to make an impression on the Ghanaian music scene, one needed to work extra hard.

In 2000, Slim released the album, Masanaba, which was an instant hit. He followed it with Eye Fe Keke in 2001, which featured the track, Mina.

In 2002, he came out with Baby, which won an award for best video at the 2002 Ghana Music Awards. In 2004, he came out with the album, Marsherita, which caught on well because of its love-laden lyrics. Marsherita won the best Hiplife Dance Choreography award at the Royal Awards.

Since joining the music industry, Slim Busterr has proved, in no uncertain terms, that he reigns supreme among his contemporaries, and continues to make giant strides on the music scene through his creativity.

Halle Berry makes unexpected cameo on Bruno Mars’ ‘24K Magic’ album

Halle Berry

Bruno Mars’ new album, ‘24K Magic’, dropped on Friday, and Halle Berry fans are in for a treat. The ageless actress appears on the track “Calling All My Lovelies” in which Mars reaches her voicemail and she blows a kiss.
“Hi, you’ve reached Halle Berry,” Berry says. “Sorry, I can’t get to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number, I’ll get right back to you.”

It’s a busy time for 31-year-old Mars, who announced a massive tour supporting his new album on Tuesday. The 24K Magic World Tour will have the singer playing over 85 shows across the globe, and marks his first full-length tour since his Moonshine Jungle World Tour in 2013.

The Grammy-winning artist is also appearing on CBS’ ‘60 Minutes’ this Sunday, in which he opens up about his humble childhood home in Hawaii -- a one-room building in a park that’s now grown-over by plants and missing a roof. Despite living in poverty, Mars insists his memories from growing up are “the best.”
“We had it all. We had each other,” he explains about his close-knit family. “It’s OK, we don’t have electric today. We’re gonna figure it out.
“Maybe that’s why I have this mentality when it comes to the music,” he muses. “I’m gonna figure it out.”
And it’s safe to say he’s done more than “figure it out.” Mars is now one of the most sought-after artists in the industry, and earlier this month, ET exclusively confirmed that he’s performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year in Paris.

Kanye West ‘would’ve voted for Trump’ in US elections

Kanye West

Kanye West has said he would have voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential elections. Speaking at a concert in San Jose, California, the rapper - who has in the past been a vocal supporter of the Democratic party - said he did not vote last week but if he had, his allegiance would have been with the Republican representative rather than Hillary Clinton.

West’s statement, which was met with boos from the audience in San Jose, was caught on camera by one Twitter user:

West elaborated throughout the show. He stated that while he admired Trump’s debating style - saying that it was “genius” because it “worked” - his true reason for backing the Republican was that his win would inspire racists to reveal themselves. “This is the beginning,” West said, according to one attendee, adding: “Neither candidate would fix racism in this country.”

According to reports from the show, West, who has said he will run for president in 2020, also stated that black people should “stop focusing on racism”. “We are in a racist country,” he said. “Period.”

West, no stranger to a provocative statement, also reportedly said he had been a Trump supporter for a while, but was advised by Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, to conceal this opinion ahead of the election.

A representative for the rapper has not responded to the Guardian’s request for comment at the time of publication.

Three attackers punched star, sprayed her with teargas and tried to steal her handbag, police say.
The Bollywood actor Mallika Sherawat was punched in the face and sprayed with teargas by masked attackers in an upmarket area of Paris, police have said.

The 40-year-old star and her partner were attacked by three masked men who tried to steal her handbag.

The couple told police the men had ambushed them in the lobby of the apartment building where they were staying in the chic 16th arrondissement of the French capital on 11 November.

The incident comes weeks after the US reality TV star Kim Kardashian was attacked in Paris in a robbery in which a masked gang stole jewellery worth more than $10m (£8m).

However, investigators said they were mystified that although the attackers had tried to take Sherawat’s handbag, they had fled empty-handed.

“We cannot understand why the attackers fled without taking anything,” a source in the investigation told AFP.

Sherawat, whose real name is Reema Lamba, came to prominence in 2004 thanks to a film that helped bust taboos around sex in the conservative Indian film industry. She is known for her role in the film Murder and also starred in Jackie Chan’s The Myth in 2005.

She is also a women’s rights activist and caused controversy with comments about how Indian society is “regressive and depressive” because of how it treats women.

I stopped smoking two months ago - Don Jazzy

Perhaps still basking in the joy of welcoming a new label signee, Don Jazzy has shared a quitted habit.

The beat master who earlier expressed his respect for Iyanya and his decision to join the Mavin spilled this in a random chat.

When asked what cigarette brand he takes, he was blunt to explain that he actually quitted two months ago.

“Let's learn that not all artistes must own a label. Or else one ends up suffering the business or music. Iyanya made a great decision and earns my respect” he had posted about the inking of Iyanya’s contract.
