Kwadwo Asamoah Juventus |
Ghana star Kwadwo Asamoah has been listed in Massimiliano Allegri’s 22-man squad for Saturday’s Serie A trip to Palermo.
Asamoah, 27, has already played three times this season and will be in line to make another start after missing out on the Bianconeri’s 4-0 thrashing of Cagliari in midweek.
The Ghana international is expected to have recovered from last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Inter Milan where he gave away possession which led to the hosts’ goal. He also earned a yellow card in the encounter.
He is in contention for a midfield place with Brazilian Hernanes who took the holding role in the game against Cagliari. The return to fitness of Sami Khedira also means greater competition for places in midfield.
“I’ll decide on the midfield and wide positions between now and tomorrow afternoon. Hernanes or Lemina will play the holding role while Khedira will slot back in after being rested for Cagliari,” Allegri was quoted by the club’s website.
Asamoah’s return to top competition has been a delight for Ghana coach Avram Grant who is expected to name the player in next month’s World Cup qualifying squad against Uganda according to local reports.
