After the online residential registration was postponed on Monday, the University of Ghana has today Wednesday September 7, 2016 opened the system for freshmen to select a hall of their choice.

As at 6 am this morning when Univers news visited the University of Ghana Computing System, the building was full to capacity. The anxious freshers were glued to their seats with many others standing, waiting for their turn to register.
Many of them came from distant places just to secure accommodation on campus to facilitate their academic work. The places they came from include Kasoa, Banana Inn, Dansoman, Aburi just to mention but a few.

Not only were freshers at the UGCS but continuing students who were either registering for their friends who are yet to report to campus or trying to secure a room for themselves.

When the system was opened at 10 am as scheduled, the system was jammed up as they tried many times without success. Those who were fortunate to secure a room went agog.

Many of the students say they want to secure a room at any of the traditional halls because of the relatively moderate fess whiles few of the students were not really concern of the residential user fees; only praying to get a place of abode on campus.

As at 1:30 pm when Univers news was leaving the University of Ghana Copmuting System, some of the disappointed students say they will keep trying to register but if they don’t; they will have no option than to be non-resident.

” I’m very much disappointed of the entire process. I was here on Monday when they came to tell us that the registration has been postponed. Today too I came here as early as 5:30 am just to get a room but the system gets jamming. If I don’t get a room my academic live will be in a jeopardy.” one fresher narrated her ordeal to Univers news.

He bemoaned how frustrating the system has been especially when the newly admitted students are yet to settle down for a gruelling academic work at the University.

Mr. Afful further said the University of Ghana SRC President has it dear to her heart to acquire all the documents to fast track works on the abandoned Students Representative Council Hostel hostel adjacent Mensah Sarbah Hall Annex B.

“It’s quit a worry whiles you are trying to log onto the system but you encounter a lot of challenges but we are hoping that at the end of the day the newly admitted students here will be able to complete their online residential registration. We are trying to how best to help those who will not be able to get rooms but I cannot give them my words.” Mr. Afful said.
