Students at UG Distance Education Unit Graduation Likely to Delay

Students at the Distance Education Unit at the University of Ghana are complaining about a semester bridge in their academic calendar.

Students in Level 300 & 200 moving on to Level 400 and 300 respectively in the coming semesters cannot move to the next level because of the format of the academic timetable for distance education students.

Speaking in an Exclusive Interview with Univers News’ Caleb Ahinakwah, the General secretary for the distance Education unit, Yaw Mainoo has expressed worry at the situation.

According to him, students of the distance Education cannot be at par with regular students on main campus thereby causing delays in their graduation from the University.


“Currently with the timetable that is out, We cannot be at par with our colleagues on main Campus, that means we wouldn’t be graduating as our ID cards is telling us in 2017.. It a major issue and we need to look into it, It is one of the pressing issues for us”

The General Secretary of the Distance Education Unit however admitted that the situation is a pressing issue that needs to be resolved soon.

He further added that, this unfortunate incident is recurrent and is likely affect new admissions into the distance Education unit of the University of Ghana.
