3 life-changing student leadership practices no one’s doing |
Most schools have what I’ll call “Student Leader Basic Training” in place. They teach their student leaders who to fill out forms, conduct meetings, hold an event, hire speakers, etc. This type of basic training should be a requirement but there are a few things you could do more of that could change the face of student leadership on your campus.
When students pick up the leadership baton, they’re looking to personally grow fom their experience as a leader. They may be looking to get something accomplished or for an opportunty to develop their skills and abilities.
Here are three programs that not enough campuses have in place that facilitate student leaders’ growth and development as club and organization officers.
Create an “Emerging Leaders” program.
Conduct a joint training session for officers of all campus organizations.
Require individual boards to have goal setting and planning session right after taking office.
Do you have one of these in place on your campus?
