First Lady inaugurates Army Wives Association

The First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, has inaugurated the Army Wives Association (AWA) at a ceremony at the Arakan Officers Mess at Burma Camp in Accra.

Mrs. Mahama also performed a sod cutting ceremony for the construction of a new kindergarten in the barracks for children of service personnel.

Inaugurating the Association (AWA), the First Lady noted that the members of the Association, their husbands, families and other members of the military community can derive enormous benefits from the Association.

She has therefore advised the executives of the AWA to develop beneficial projects and campaigns, pledging that her organisation, the Lordina Foundation, will partner the AWA to organise health screening and testing exercises in the various barracks across the country.

Mrs. Mahama announced that government would continue to tackle the housing challenge facing many army families, and through to the VTB Facility, will improve the state of accommodation in the various barracks across the country.

First Lady, Lordina Mahama, who has a soft spot for children requested and interacted with the children of the Army Wives.

She also shared with them Golden Tree Chocolates.
