We live in a world where terror strikes are everywhere. After the recent Beirut, Paris and Mali attacks, we usually spend days in anticipation of more such news.

Everytime we hear that a horrific terror attack has taken place in a country far away or nearby, we are sad and we hope it all ends; but inside we are also a bit relieved that it's not our city and not our loved ones whose lives were at stake.

But where do these terror strikes happen the most?

Who suffer the most when it comes to terror?
Such questions were answered in a new Terrorism Index published by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP)
Here are some of the key findings of the report:

Boko Haram overtakes ISIL to become the most deadly terrorist group in the world.

Deaths attributed to Boko Haram increased by 317 per cent in 2014 to 6,644. ISIS (ISIL) was responsible for 6,073 terrorist deaths. ISIS kills more people on the battlefield though.

Terrorist activity increased by 80 per cent in 2014 to its highest recorded level.

The largest ever year-on-year increase in deaths from terrorism was recorded in 2014, rising from 18,111 in 2013 to 32,685 in 2014.

Terrorist activity is highly concentrated — five countries accounted for 78 per cent of deaths.

Fifty-seven per cent of all attacks and 78 per cent of all deaths occurred in only five countries; Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria.
