Lancaster University Ghana will be hosting Health Conference

This September, Lancaster University Ghana is hosting a Health Conference and although Lancaster University hosts medicine and health related conferences regularly in the UK, this is the first conference of its kind in West Africa to be hosted by Lancaster University Ghana.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading academics, policy makers, clinicians, practitioners and students from the UK and West Africa with the view to assessing current and future challenges for medical management in West Africa. It also serves as a platform for students in Africa who are undertaking PhD programmes in LU and elsewhere to showcase and receive feedback on their work. By attending this conference, individuals will have the opportunity to learn about contemporary research in health and medicine, share research ideas and network with practitioners and researchers from the UK and Africa.

Lancaster University (LU) is renowned for providing world-class education to students. It is ranked amongst the top ten universities in the UK, according to the 2017 Guardian university league table, and internationally is ranked amongst the top one per cent of universities in the world. It is the only British University to have a fully-fledged branch campus in West Africa and is set to grow into a major regional teaching and research university of international standing in the near future; for Lancaster, health and medicine are a significant existing part of its educational and research portfolio and are set for further development. Lancaster University Ghana is in the process of developing continuous professional development programmes in Health Leadership, Management and Public Health in Ghana soa Health Conference is the perfect platform to share its interest in Health and Medicine in West Africa.

Once LUG’s purpose-built, multi-disciplinary campus is completed in the next few years the university will significantly expand their current rate of programme offerings to include new programme suites, including health, engineering, environment and eco-innovation. The university also intends to host a variety of conferences in Ghana across our disciplines highlighting our centres of excellence.
