The HACKATON Contest, is a programme organized by Technology Executives Conference (INNOVATE) to provide opportunity for Tertiary Institution Students and Graduates to show their creative skills in Technology by identifying a problem related to either Education, Health, Banking and Finance, Law or Energy and are to propose a Mobile or Web APP solution to address the identified problem.
TeamPUC built a mobile app to send information to specific groups and faculties on campus, and users of the app will also get to know about events and news happening in other schools as well.
PUC Students competed with students from 6 other institutions; UPSA, REGENT, WISCONSIN, KNUST, and CENTRAL UNIVERSITY who equally performed well but TeamPUC was stronger.
In an earlier interview with the Leader of TeamPUC Mr. Derry Julian, he expressed that, participating in this contest has thought him a great deal about team work and leadership. He was optimistic that, TeamPUC would emerge as winners by the grace of God – and according to his strong vision, TeamPUC won.
Winners of the contest took home a cash price of GHC 2,000.00 and mentoring deals from top IT personnel in Ghana.
TeamPUC would also get exposed to Ghana at Grand Conference on 23rd July, 2016 at the British Council with sole aim of demonstrating the app practically and gaining a global recognition.
The Team from PUC was made up of Level 400 IT students namely: Mr. Julian Derry (Team Leader), Mr. Emmanuel Sampah, Mr. Joshua Kperator, Mr. Richard Kanfrah and Mr. William Boateng.
Hon. Joseph Ntow (Minority Leader of PUC Parliament) was also there to support the team.
