Some students at Ho Polytechnic have called on authorities of the school to, as a matter of urgency, increase security on the campus following the gruesome murder of a student on Monday 30thNovember. The deceased, Miss Naomi Kpodzro, a first year fashion student of the school was attacked by an unidentified assailant in her room on Monday dawn.
Some students who spoke to Citi News said they are gripped with fear after the dreadful attack which led to death of their a student.
“We have never experienced anything of this sort before. We were scared especially seeing the lady on the floor. And you know we are all ladies” they said They said prior to tragedy, there were pockets of incidents where students were attacked by robbers who made away with their laptop and other valuables.
They are however calling on the school authority to as a matter of urgency increase surveillance on campus to avert future occurrence of such incidents. Meanwhile Management of Ho Polytechnic has since been taking steps to allay the fears of students and residents in the polytechnic community.

In a statement issued by the register of the Polytechnic Dr Christopher Amehoe, the polytechnic in collaboration with the Ghana police service have beefed up security at the Divine Star hostel. There are also a series of counselling sessions underway for traumatized students. The statement further extended management’s condolence to the bereaved family and reassured them of polytechnic’s support throughout the period.
