Actress and film producer Yvonne Okoro |
The actor who was the winner of the favourite actress in the 2014 edition said the award scheme is a sham. As a result, she has vowed not to submit any of her works for nomination.
According to her, organisation of the event and the criteria for nomination and awarding is poor.
Speaking to Giovani Caleb on 360Live on Live 91.9 FM, Okoro recounted being a co-winner of the Best Actress Award at the 2010 Ghana Movie Awards, adding “which awards honour two people at the same time.”
She added that on countless occasions she made her reservation known to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Movie Awards, Fred Nuamah but to no avail.
“There can never be any improvement of Ghana Movie awards,” she told Giovani.
This year’s event is scheduled for December 30 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The award scheme will be recognizing excellence by honouring achievements of actors, writers, directors, producers, technicians and other personalities in the filmmaking industry of Africa.
