The Electoral Commission has accepted the nomination documents of the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and other presidential aspirants for the 2016 elections.
However, the commission has deferred accepting the filing fees of the aspirants following a suit filed by the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) regarding the filing fees.

Even though the EC accepted his papers, his money was not accepted and rather deferred as a result of the suit filed by the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) regarding the filing fees.
Nana Addo was the first aspirant to file his papers Thursday morning. He was accompanied by the acting National Chairman of the NPP, Mr Freddie Blay and acting General Secretary and National Organiser, Mr John Buadu.
The Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei received the papers as the Returning Officer of the Presidential Elections.

The running mate of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Mr Emmanuel Carl Bartels filed on behalf of the flagbearer of his party, Mr Hassan Ayariga.
According to Mr Bartels, Mr Ayariga was engaged in other important matters hence his inability to personally file.

Mr Apaloo said Madam Margaret Obrain Safo was his running mate. She was not present for the filing.
Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur filed the nomination papers of President John Dramani Mahama ion his behalf Thursday afternoon.
