Student Representative Councils (SRCs) of tertiary educational institutions, have been urged to use their membership of the SRCs to develop leadership skills and not for antagonistic intentions.

Mr Wilson Arthur, Manager of Skyy Power Multimedia in Takoradi noted that the SRC allowed students the opportunity to lead a group of people to achieve good results, therefore, their successful administration had the potential to perform efficiently at their places of work.

Mr Wilson offered the advice at the inauguration and swearing in of a four-member SRC executive of the Takoradi branch of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) which was established in the Oil city in 2013.

He, therefore, advised against using the SRC for negative activities, since that would only jeopardize their education and future.

To ensure harmonious atmosphere on the campuses, the multimedia Manager entreated the SRCs to seek the views of stakeholders, and not to operate in isolation as that was a recipe for mistrust to cause confusion.

The executive members has Albert Nkrumah as president, Madam Mavis Hagan secretary, Mr Daniel Adofo Amoako organizer and Mr Gideon Nketsia Sampsom as treasurer.

Mr Daniel Inkoom, Manager of the GIMPA branch, stressed the need for graduates to focus on innovative ways of self employed through entrepreneurship and not necessarily depending solely on government jobs which at times is not forth coming.

In that direction, however, Mr Inkoom impressed on tertiary institutions to periodically review their curricula so that students would learn and be challenged to depend on themselves.

He therefore urged students who have formed the graduate unemployed association to accept the challenge to acquire knowledge in entrepreneurship to become self sufficient.

Mr Nkrumah, the president, called for support and cooperation from the entire student body to ensure a successful administration.
