UPSA to get new mosque |
The new mosque will replace the old one which was demolished to make way for infrastructural development on the UPSA campus.
The project, which is estimated cost of USD200, 000 is being funded and constructed by Direct Aid a non-profit organization from the State of Kuwait. According to Engineer Ahmed, of Direct Aid, the building is a three-story facility with offices, washrooms and a library.
In a brief address, the Vice-Chancellor said, he was confident that Direct Aid would put up an edifice befitting the status of the University, and was impressed that the contractors promised to complete the project within six months.
Speaking on how the Mosque would impact on the lives on Muslims on Campus, the Ghana Muslims Students’ Association (GMSA), UPSA Chapter patron, Mr. Alhassan Bunyaminu said “the new mosque will enhance unity, peace and tranquility among the students.” Mohammed Ali, President of the GMSA-UPSA corroborated with his Patron in his remarks saying, “the mosque will acts like an ant hillto unit all Muslims on campus.
The University Imam, Mohammed Amin was grateful to the state of Kuwait for their prompt response to the school after they made a request for a place of worship.
