Ho Technical University Holds Trade and Investment Forum

A three-day forum under the theme “Consolidating the Gains of Trade and Investment in Volta Region – Realigning Our Steps for transformation” was organised by the Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology Transfer (CEIT), a new Centre under the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences in Ho Technical University in collaboration with Biz Connect (a private organization). 

The Forum was facilitated by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) and was mainly sponsored by the Ghana EXIM Bank.

Opening the forum, the Vice Chancellor of Ho Technical University, Prof. E. K. Sakyi took the opportunity to officially launch CEIT and one of its maiden projects “From School into Business Project” which is piloting projects like Volta Winery Enterprise, Green City Ventures and Volta Auctioneers. He also stated that Ho Technical University has an aim of making students more innovative, business oriented and entrepreneurial at the end of their studies and therefore called on all and sundry to come on board to make this ambition a reality.

The CEO of Ghana Exim Bank also assured students that their doors were opened and that they were more than willing to support them provided they would come up with innovative ideas that would create jobs and attract investors into the region.

The representative of the Minister of Trade and Industry hammered the fact that trade and investment are very essential in today’s world and in order to thrive in the international market, students had to know the rules of the World Trade Organization like they know the rules of FIFA.

In addition, the CEO of Private Sector Development Secretariat, on behalf of the Minister of State responsible for Private Sector Development and PPP emphasized the necessity of bettering trade and investment opportunities in the Volta Region since that would help create jobs and wealth in the region.

The Forum offered the opportunity for faculties and businesses to exhibit their products to the public.
