Central University Basketball Team Captain Sidney Larbie has expressed disappointment about the lack of support from the institution’s authorities regarding the game of basketball. The team despite competing in many tournaments has failed to impress in any of them due to many challenges the team faces.
The captain like so many others in his position in other institutions believes just a little attention from authorities will have a positive impact on the team going forward when contacted by Basketballghana.com. He said:
“Currently Central does not have a basketball court so playing and training regularly is difficult. Also our timetable is bad and doesn’t favour training times and the school doesn’t care about the sports guys. As you could see, UPAC (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges Basketball Championship) day we transported ourselves there and four guys couldn’t make it.”
However, he was hopeful the creation of a sports directorate two months ago should ease the burden of the team going forward. Larbie, a stud at the high school level for Ghana Secondary Technical School, was instrumental in his team’s participation in the just ended UPAC Championship.
Central also competed in the PUSAG (Private Universities Students Association Games) Basketball competition last month; making it out of the group stage before exiting at the quarter final stage.
