Marshalls University College’s participation in the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship was not a disappointing according to team captain Anthony Adade.

Marshalls University failed to make it out of the quarter finals where the team was drawn in Group B against Takoradi Polytechnic, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Despite failing to make it out of the group, Adade did not consider his team’s campaign a disappointment. In an interview with basketballghana.com, he said:

“We really showed the other schools that we are really a force to reckon with when it comes to basketball in Ghana”.

Marshalls University went into the competition on the back of an impressive fourth place showing in its debut appearance in last year’s competition and winning the PUSAG (Private Universities Students Association Games) Basketball competition last month.

However, the team was second after losing 29-31 to eventual champions University of Ghana in Zone G qualifiers before bowing out of the competition with inferior goals compared to fellow contenders Takoradi Polytechnic and KNUST.

University of Ghana beat defending champions Accra Polytechnic 45-44 to be crowned 2016 winners of the national title.
