Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central marks 30th Anniversary

The Accra Ring Road Central chapter of the Rotary Club International, has launched its 30th Anniversary celebration in Accra. 

As part of the activities lined up for the celebration, the club held a party for over a hundred orphans from the Kressner Orphanage, Sowutuom at the Red Velvet Garden in East Legon. In an interview with Citi News at the launch of the anniversary, the Assistant Governor of the Rotary District 9102, Victor Yaw Asante, indicated the club has for the past thirty years been committed to embarking on projects that have positively impacted society. 

“We have been working on a maternity facility in Ayirebi in the East Region, it is costing us about $420,000 and we expect to finish it this year which is our anniversary year,” he added. 

The club has over the years undertaken some key projects including the refurbishment of the male wards at the Maamobi Polyclinic, construction of the Asempaneye Basic School in the Eastern Region, a USD 50,000 telehealth project in the Jirapa district of the Upper West Region in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Windsor and water and sanitation projects in Supreso and Tinkong. 

Among the key activities lined up for the anniversary celebration, is the commissioning of 30th anniversary projects and a fundraising gala to be organized in June. Rotary International first debuted in Ghana in 1958 with one, and has increased to 40 clubs. The Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central was the third club to be chartered in Accra.
