Ms Beatrice Yeboah Gyimah, the Students Representative Council’s (SRC) Women’s Commissioner of the Central University College, has donated items worth GHc1,600 cedis, to Save Them Young Mission, an orphanage home located at Tema Golf City.

The items include 40 boxes of bottled water, detergent, biscuits, drinks, toiletries, 3 boxes of indomie, a box of keysoap, a box of carbolic soap and a bag of rice.
Ms Gyimah who was accompanied by some members of the SRC said the motive behind the donation was to help the vulnerable and less privilege in society; an activity to mark her birthday celebration.

She said Save Them Young Mission, as an orphanage home is not really known as compared to Osu Children’s Home and others, and therefore called on all and sundry to locate orphanage homes which were in the hideouts, to support, adding that “your candle loses nothing trying to light up another candle, and so once in a while we should all learn to help the needy; and this is a social responsibility”.

Ms Gyimah further explained that, as a society we needed to be mindful of our responsibility, as such, it was appropriate to provide orphans and vulnerable children, a place of love, hope and a sense of belonging within the Christian family environment.

In another development, she said aside an impressive number of programmes carried out by the commission within the first quarter in office, they currently intend to organise a number of seminars and as well embark on a peace campaign project ahead of Ghana’s 2016 general elections.

The Women’s Commissioner told GNA, the commission will also climax its activities for the second quarter in office, with a beauty pageant where one person will emerge as an ambassador for Economic Women Empowerment; to empower other women to be economically dependent.

Madam Barikisu Iddrisu, one of the mothers at the orphanage home who received the items on behalf of Management, expressed gratitude to Ms Gyimah for putting smiles on the faces of the kids.
