A DECADE OF EXCELLENCE
Ten years ago the leadership of The Church of Pentecost, under the chairmanship of Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy, took a bold and visionary decision to establish this great University College, by upgrading it from the Pentecost Bible College. The overarching aim was to produce men and women who work with hands, heads and hearts to the glory of God. The vision was to empower students to serve their own generation and posterity with integrity and the fear of God.

The Pentecost University College was thus inaugurated on May 22, 2003, by His Excellency, J. A. Kuffuor, the then President of the Republic of Ghana during the Church's 34th Session of the General Council meeting. In November 2004, the National Accreditation Board (NAB) granted the University Institutional Accreditation. The Pentecost University College Council, first headed by Elder Dr. Paul Awua was inducted on May 6, 2004 at the 10th Session of the Extraordinary Council Meeting held at the Sowutuom campus. Currently, the Council is under the chairmanship of Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo.
The Pentecost University College started with seven (7) programmes in the 2003/2004 academic year, today runs thirty-two (32) programmes comprising, Certificate, Professional, Undergraduate and Graduate programmes. These programmes have been duly accredited by the National Accreditation Board. Additionally, the University College is affiliated to the University of Ghana, Legon and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Much as we all allude to improving standards of higher education in the country, the single most important need of our country today is ‘Graduates with character’. Our country is in dire need of men and women of integrity who will not add to the corruption and poor work ethics that make a mockery of our laws and governance systems. This has been the agenda of Pentecost University College over the past decade. Pentecost University’s uniqueness is embedded in our two flagship programmes namely MENTORSHIP and COLLEGE ASSEMBLY.
The PUC Mentorship programme is established to impact the lives of students both spiritually and academically. With prepared handbooks under the leadership of experts, this programme seeks to nurture Students to know Christ and to equip them with personal, organisational and leadership skills throughout their time at the University College and afterwards.
College assembly affords our students the opportunity to hear from prominent people on various topics. In recent years, the university has welcomed engaging and distinguished speakers like His Excellency, John Agyekum Kuffour (Former president of Ghana), Hon. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo (The former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development), Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie (former GIJ president and immediate past member of the Council of State), Ayaz Shafi (Management Consultant from India), Ken Ofori-Atta (immediate past chairman and co-founder of Databank Financial Services Ltd) and many others.
