As part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Community Impact project and in response to a request, the Vice-Chancellor in collaboration with the University Information Technology Services (UITS) has donated 20 Hewlet Packard (hp) workstations to the Kokoben M/A Basic School near KNUST.

The donation according to Francis Osae Agyei, the Director of UITS, was in response to a formal request from the traditional authorities of the Kokoben Township for assistance to set up an ICT Centre for the school. In view of the current restructuring and retooling at the University, KNUST has new computers and decided to donate the old workstations to the schools in the surrounding community.
Presenting the workstations, Professor William Otoo Ellis, Vice-Chancellor, stated that KNUST was operating in and is surrounded by several communities. The University therefore saw the necessity to respond to the request of Nananom.

Prof. Ellis noted that so far, five (5) schools have benefitted from this initiative. He pledged the University’s support for surrounding communities.

Angelina Yeboah, Headmistress of Kokoben M/A Basic School and Nana Poku Amankwa, Abusuapanin of the Royal Aduana Clan representing the Chief, all expressed their gratitude to KNUST for their kind gesture.
