Spokesperson for the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning |
Speaking about gay rights activism in Ghana on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen Monday, Mr Amoaning noted that the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights does not define any rights for homosexuals, pointing out that Ghana’s 1992 constitution is also explicitly clear on Human Rights provisions.
Ghana remains one of the African countries strictly against same-sex marriages. Although the country’s criminal code does not exclusively dwell on sanctions against homosexual behaviors, persons incriminated in the act are very likely to face a prison sentence of not less than ten years.
Mr. Foh-Amoaning insisted that legalizing homosexuality in Ghana will mean legalizing a human weakness which to him is a criminal offense.
“The most fundamental human rights are the right to life and so you cannot have any rights for homosexuals. It is just not possible” he insisted.
According to him, the Western World is determined to try as much as possible to force African countries to accept homosexuality, and when that happens, the mindset of black people and "challenged African leaders" will be enslaved.
He promised to lead a campaign to lobby Parliament to come out with a comprehensive decision on the homosexuality issue.
