President Buhari Vs Impatient Nigerians: Can the patient dog eat the fattest bone?
President Muhammadu Buhari
Since assumption of power by President Muhammadu Buhari, no doubt, there have been hopes and excitement in the faces of well meaning Nigerians who have been clamouring for positive change in managing the affairs of the country.

It is equally very apparent that aside Nigeria, a good number of countries across the globe followed Nigeria to share the joy of the unbelievable change, expressing confidence on the choice of President Buhari, believing that Nigeria is lucky to have elected such a patriotic and trustworthy leader who means business for Nigeria.
But nine months after Buhari’s assumption of office as president, political gladiators have said that some Nigerians who either could not differentiate between” white and black” or could not make fair judgement within their minds, or deliberately refuse to see for themselves what is right or wrong, have begun to showcase little or no patience in their highest desperation to getting things done the way and the time they wanted.

Indeed, those people who by this short time begin to lose patience assumed that Buhari possessed magical power and could instantly address the inherent odds of sixteen years of PDP led administration without thinking constructively or designing logically on how to tactically deal with the challenging difficulties met on the ground. They taught that the rescue could be achieved within a day or weeks. The biggest fear of those who appear impatient is if they would allow the patient ones to eat the fattest bone?

It is supposed that Nigerians who have witnessed what has happened in the last sixteen years of democratic dispensation for whatsoever reason should have had an excuse for Buhari’s administration. This is because Buhari had inherited a country that has been characterised with a catalogue of social problems ranging from unemployment, conflict crises, lack of sustainable development and corruption among others.

Either out of desperation or in an attempt to achieve personal sentiments, some Nigerians have forgot to think that if one’s leg is broken or wounded, it takes time to recuperate or heal. They have also forgotten that if a house is demolished or incidentally gutted by fire, it takes time to rebuild it to its original form. This implies that we can’t make a meaningful progress just over night.

Many however argued that the cry by some people that there was no money in circulation in the country or that up to this moment, they could not see where the change mantra begins in the leadership of the president, was irrelevant and such are still ignorant of what has been going on so far in the current administration.

It is significant to know that approaching Nigerian problems cannot be done without putting things into cognisance because prior to this administration, if not completely, the economy of the country had been dwindled. This means that the government would need to take careful and strategic approach on how to go about the whole thing.

It is a well known fact that for there to be meaningful development of whatever kind in the world, peace, harmony and stability often count first before anything else.

For the past six years, the activities of the dreaded Boko Haram had become an impediment to the development of Nigeria. Thousands of people were reported to have been killed and properties worth billions of naira were annihilated by the insurgents.

Before the coming of this administration, the North- Eastern Nigeria has become a no-go area not only to civilians but to even personnel of the Nigerian military and police. In Military and police barracks many checkpoints were attacked and destroyed.

Nigerians have witnessed consistency of horrific insurgent attacks which had forced countless of people to become IDPs .The intensity of the group’s attacks had further paved Boko Haram way to even take control of parts of the Nigerian territory in the states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

But all these antecedents have run out of some people’s memories due the current peace and harmony being enjoyed in the country. Millions of Nigerians have forgotten when schools, religious centres, market places and any other gathering were not safe.

Not only among the residents of Nigeria, globally, it has been believed that the current administration of President Buhari has put in place serious security apparatus to ensure that peace and harmony return to every nook and cranny of Nigeria.

The present move to end insurgency by Buhari has so far undoubtedly yielded positive impact in Nigeria. Although, one cannot said that the menace of Boko Haram is completely defeated, but significantly, the group has been degraded to its knee where insurgents are longer seen everywhere like before. They are being dislodged day-by-day by the soldiers. Many villages and communities earlier captured by the insurgents have been liberated and residents of those areas have since begun to return to their homes and attacks are no more lunched as usual.

No Nigerian, including those living in the areas affected by Boko Haram does not recognise the achievement so far recorded in terms security in the country. In fact, the success recorded in nine months of Buhari’s administration in the area of security was not recorded in the last six years of insurgency in the north east.

Areas like market places, religious centres (Mosques and Churches), motor parks among other social gatherings that people were afraid of patronising are now relatively safer.

The current peace being enjoyed in the country has given hope and confidence to foreign investors from different countries to have set to put their huge resources in Nigeria believing that no threat could be posed against their investments following his trips to several countries to establish economic and bilateral relationship .This would however go a long way in boosting Nigeria’s slow economy.

Corruption which is also a bane to sustainable development and mother of all had evidently for many years back, crippled the economy of Nigeria. Until the coming of Buhari, no Nigerian president had sincerely fought corruption in the past.

As soon as Buhari returned to power, the fight against corruption was kick-started where looted funds were recovered from corrupt officials.

The effort by the president to recover looted funds had helped to realise huge amount of money that could be utilised to significantly finance part of the 2016 budget especially at this trying time. This according to political analyst was a great development particularly at this crucial economic downtown where even the only country’s source of revenue which is oil is dwindling at the global market. Consequent upon his relentless effort, America and other developed countries gave Buhari, a pass mark.

Buhar’s action against corruption has indeed re-set many Nigerians, especially government officials towards their conduct to government activities which has since started to create good image for Nigeria in the eyes of international communities with country’s portfolio rises day-by-day across the globe.

With the dwindling oil price and economic hardship in the world, there has been glaring evidence that the president is working day and night to ensure diversification of the nation’s economy through various means to enable the country sustain itself.

Of course, the situation now is relatively difficult particularly to the common individuals due to the increase in prices of goods and services, but then again, political analysts have argued that the situation would be a thing of the past, adding that the news of the hardship is more of speculation than real.

Buhari and his associates have severally called on Nigerians to exercised patience as the country was destroyed by unpatriotic leaders who only know themselves. They would want Nigerians to understand that the atrocities committed cannot all be addressed within a short period of time.

Recently, Buhari had granted an interview on the Hausa Service of the BBC where he stressed that he had good plans for the country and that people would be surprised with what would be achieved before the end of this year

Even though there have been outcry here and there, but various economists, political analysts and even common individuals have developed that good things would come for the country in due course, urging that Nigerians should be more patient so as to eat the fattest bone.

With the looted money recovered by the current ant-graft war (EFCC) and huge amount money gathered in the Single Treasury Account (TSA), Nigerians should have confidence that President Buhari would deliver on his campaign promises.
