Caritas Naa Ayele Aryee is a 27-year old, currently a student of Wisconsin University, an insurance agent with Millicom Ghana and an entrepreneur. She loves food, watching movies, hanging out and a deep passion of caring for people which led to her founding Tatas and Friends in July 2013 with the slogan “Touching Society A Soul at a Time”. In the space of 2 years, Tatas and Friends has over 30 members, with what originally started with only her.
In these 2 years, Tatas and Friends have had two projects being the #5Astick; a project that was targeted at the visually impaired. The success of which plunged the Ghana Blind Union into launching a white cane campaign. Their second project, #KenkeyForTheNeedy saw them auction kenkey and raising over GHS 10,000 for the Gbeogo School for the Deaf in Bolgatanga. Tatas and Friends have also made donations to Jay Nii Streetwise in Jamestown, Hac Ghana, United Heart Orphanage, Christian Foster Home in Frafraha among others.
In the next 5 years Caritas hopes to reach beyond Ghana and says “I want to see the Youth rise up and take charge, i want to see both male and female chase their dreams with everything within them,i want to see the youth make use of available resources and not abuse them especially Social Media.” However, she think the youth are pushing to make it, but not pushing hard enough and there’s more space to fill.
She encourages that whoever feels all hope is lost and they amount to nothing should believe in themselves and believe there is a God who makes the impossible possible and also that every moment is an opportunity so take control and make it count. We are all destined for greatness. Pray more.
