The Women of the Syrian Refugee Crisis

The Women of the Syrian Refugee Crisis

We met Abir and her mother, Aveen, outside the official Moria camp on Lesvos, Greece (you can see the barbed-wire fences in the background behind her). Abir was sweet and soft-spoken and never far from her mother's side.

They had just made the boat trip to the island that morning, along with her brother, leaving at midnight and arriving at 6 a.m. Abir's father died from heart complications several years ago.

Lululemon Threw Some Shade at Beyoncé's New Active Line, Immediately Regretted It

Lululemon Threw Some Shade at Beyoncé's New Active Line, Immediately Regretted It

This morning, basically the whole universe was celebrating Beyoncé's new activewear line, Ivy Park. Everyone, that is, except for Lululemon. The brand quickly learned that even the lightest amount of shade thrown at Beyoncé on the Internet sparks a hellfire of fury from the Beyhive, and it immediately had that "I regret everything" moment.

Here's what went down: remember in Mean Girls when the new girl, Cady Heron, is "like, really pretty," so "Queen Bee" Regina George is feeling a little threatened? The same thing happened . . . except the "Queen Bee" is Lululemon and Cady Heron is Ivy Park, but Ivy Park has a huge fan base, and Queen Bee Lululemon didn't realize that Queen Bey's fans will literally end you if you speak ill of anything to do with Mrs. Carter.

A magistrate court in Accra has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of controversial boxer, Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku for his refusal to appear before it to answer charges of assault against him.

The accused, who was not represented by counsel when the case was called on March 23, 2016, also did not provide any reasonable excuse for his absence.

Nana Densu Dodoo and Eunice Lamptey, the victims of the alleged assault were also not present at court when the case was called.

It would be recalled that Bukom Banku, on October 1, 2015 allegedly used a cutlass to assault one Michael Abbey; a resident of Akoto Lantey in Accra, but he never stepped in court. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest but he failed to appear before the court throughout the hearing. The case is still pending awaiting advice from the AG’s office.

Presenting the facts of the latest case, the prosecutor, Sergeant Lois Konadu, told the court presided over by Mr James Bota that the victims, Nana and Eunice, an unemployed and a trader, respectively, resided at Bukom, while Bukom Banku also lived in the same vicinity.

He said at 4.30 p.m on March 9, 2016, Nana and Eunice, together with some siblings, were sitting in front of their house chatting when Bukom Banku and his girlfriend came and stood opposite them in a romantic mood. Sergeant Konadu said without provocation, Bukom Banku started insulting Nana, saying that his girlfriend had nicer breasts than hers.

According to the prosecutor, no one uttered a word until Bukom Banku insulted Nana’s mother who was not even on the scene. He said Nana then told Bukom Banku not to insult her mother, but he became annoyed and assaulted her.

Eunice who attempted to rescue Nana was also assaulted. The two sustained various degrees of injuries and reported the matter to the James Town Police where they were issued with medical forms to go to the hospital for treatment.

On March 11, 2016 Nana and Eunice petitioned the Regional Police Commander in Accra to intervene and Bukom Banku was apprehended on March 15, 2016.

Words of Inspiration: "THE CURE" By Sarkodie Opoku Yaw Eric

Many goes through life without any knowledge on why they are on earth. I used to ask myself the same question when I was young that "its life all about, going to school, graduating, finding a job, marriage, and help your children to repeat the same process and then grow old, retire and check out of earth and be forgotten in time. Couldn't there be more to life than this systematic cycle".

In my quest to find more about life brought me to the knowledge of God and why he created us
and what he intends with our lives on earth. Here is where I have known true life fulfillment and excellence in all ways. There have been misconceptions about God which has made him an object (instead of a living being) in man-built houses called the church where people go to pay him respect (like a sepulcher) on Sundays. No. God is life, and if you know him, he will be your life(purpose) for life(forever). Download the PDF file below.

There's nothing he wants from us than to make us a beauty for the world to behold his glory as his beloved sons or daughters and by so doing lead the world to himself as well. So as a student the book
centers on how we can tap the aid of God in our academics and other related areas of our lives which he so much wants to offer through his holy spirit.
